On Wednesday, January 14, Dennis “The Menace” James, who was in Venice, California training with Charles Glass for the 2009 Arnold Classic on March 6th, dropped by the Weider offices for an impromptu visit. Crushing the scales at an incredibly hard 265 pounds 8-weeks out from the show, James is so confident in Glass’s expertise that he’s willing to drive 370 miles – each way – from Arizona to Venice where he’s rented a one-bedroom apartment just down the street from Gold’s Gym. James will stay for two-weeks at a time all the way up to the show. Here are more tidbits straight from The Menace himself:

“Charles has the magic formula. Everytime I work with him I look my best. It’s a winning combination.”

“He knows my body and what I need to improve on. Our main goals are more back detail and quad separation.”

“We’re shooting for 245-250 pounds for the Arnold. I’ll have that streamlined look that the judges want right now. I’ll be in great condition with the fullness I had in 2003.”

“Everybody’s a threat at the Arnold. Victor, Kai, Toney, Silvio and myself can all win this show. That’s why I’m bringing my best.”

IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Hidetada Yamagishi has suddenly announced that he was invited to compete at the 2009 Arnold Classic, but he has discussed this with his Trainer Charles Glass and both came to an agreement and decided to decline the offer of the ASC Invitation, To focus on the Orlando & New york 2009 Pro shows.

Yamagishi was arrested of possession of steroids at the LosAngeles international Airport on December 2007 and his invitation for the 2008 Arnold Classic was officially Canceled.

2009 IFBB Arnold Classic Webcast Player.

The 21st Arnold Classic will be webcast live from Veteran's Memorial Auditorium in Columbus, Ohio. You can watch the Ms. International, Fitness International and Figure International at 7:00 pm EST on Friday, March 6th. Tune in the next day, Saturday, March 7th at 12:00 am EST for men's pre-judging and again at 7:00 pm EST for the Men's Finals.

According to an anonymous IFBB official, Kai Greene has dropped out of the 2009 Arnold Classic. For weeks rumors were circulating that Greene was well behind in his prep for the contest, and eyewitness accounts had him weighing in the high 270s less than two weeks out from the show, roughly 20 pounds heavier than his usual competition weight. Greene, who placed third at the 2008 Arnold Classic, was being mentioned by some as a potential top-three - or higher - finisher in early January.

The decision is another in a long line of recent setbacks for Greene. Last year, he won the New York Pro but, according to all accounts, was not in good health in doing so. In late summer, a hernia operation sidelined him for the 2008 Olympia.

Secondo un anonimo Ufficiale IFBB, Kay Greene si e' ritirato dall' Arnold Classic 2009. Per settimane sono circolati pettegolezzi sul fatto che Greene fosse ben indietro con la preparazione per la gara, e testimoni oculari lo davano pesare 270 libbre a due settimane, quindi ben 20 libbre piu' pesante del suo solito peso di gara. Greene, classificatosi terzo lo scorso anno, veniva dato da molti come potenziale top 3,o anche meglio, ai primi di gennaio.

Questa decisione si va ad aggiungere ad altre analoghe prese da Greene. L'anno scorso vinse il NY PRO, ma secondo alcune voci non era in buone condizioni di salute. Alla fine dell'estate un'operazione per un'ernia ombellicale lo mise fuori dal Mr.Olympia.
